“I come from a music family, most members play one or two instruments, it just kind of happens…one day you have a guitar in your hands and before you know it you always have a guitar in your hands or close by.”

“The moment I got excited to play was watching my grandfather play as a kid. He played (still does) a Gibson 335 and I just loved the sound of hisTravis style picking on that thing”

“My favourite musical memory would be seeing Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas and Tony Rice play together…unreal.”

“My first love in style would be Nashville country pre 1958 Texas and Bakersfield “outlaw” country from the 60’s/70’s. It’s all in the sound, I love the arrangements, the instrumentation, the styles of those generations. Second would be Americana and Folk. There is a rawness to this music that I have always enjoyed, I’m not into over produced super polished studio music. The Band, Neil Young…the beauty is in the rough edges. Third - very select rock music, big fan of Southern rock, Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, the Allmans Jam Bands, The Dead, Dave Matthews. I like music when it speaks to me, doesn’t matter the genre really.”

“My top 3 favourite songs right now - Rag Mama Rag - The Band, Sugaree - The Grateful Dead, Bob Wills Is Still the King - Waylon Jennings. This could change in 10 minutes though…”

“One of the most important things a student should know would be never settle in a rut…never stop learning….and 10 minutes of practice is better than none.”
